The Spartan is a six-level apartment building set within a calm neighbourhood of Ogbodjo in the Greater Accra Region. The apartment building comprises ten 2-bedroom units on five levels. The penthouse level houses the 11th 2-bedroom unit, a gym, and a sky bar with an infinity pool. The open-air environment of the fifth floor and the pergola roof design create interesting shadows and serene social space.
The approach to design was to promote communal living whilst ensuring each unit maintains privacy and individuality. The facade design of the building makes use of concrete and blockwork as the main building material and the use of glass mainly as fenestrations. Openings have been shaded with tastefully placed recesses and balconies to provide a cool indoor experience. The use of aluminium fins in the façade design breaks the monotony of concrete and glass and screens off utility and circulation spaces. The fusion of soft and hard landscaping creates an inviting and aesthetic ambiance.
