World Malaria Day is an annual international event held on 25th April to raise awareness of the global effort to control and ultimately eradicate malaria. Globally, 3.3 billion people in 106 countries are at risk of contracting malaria. In Ghana, the fight against malaria has been met with success. The prevalence of malaria cases in children under five decreased nationally by 8% from 2011 to 2016, and from 2014 malaria deaths nationwide decreased remarkably by 73%. This year’s theme of “Zero Malaria Starts With Me” sought to totally eradicate malaria in Ghana.

In collaboration with Ghana Education Services, Ghana Health services and Metro TV, Bricklane Development Group visited Danfa Methodist Basic School on 10th April, 2019 to educate the students on malaria and their individual roles in eradicating it. Bricklane coordinated and organized representatives of the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Health Directorate and the Ghana Education Service to conduct malaria screening for students and teachers.
